We had a few problems from the start. We had reservations for 2 adjoining rooms. When we got there, that was a problem. After finally checking in, my daughter knelt on the floor to put her clothes in the dresser & got her new "very expensive " jeans full of some type of cleaner. She was really upset. We tried to call the front desk, but neither phone worked. While we continued to unpack, we also found that our safe did not work & the one remote needed batteries. Finally , I heard housekeeping outside our door. When I opened the door , however, the woman was telling off her co-worker. She was screaming at him, and my looking at her & waiting for her help didn't matter. She kept screaming about ..."When I ask if there are towels , I don't need to know if they are in the closet, I need them here in my cart" This went on & On , till finally a supervisor showed up & told her to stop . She however kept it up & was told again to stop it now !!! Then the supervisor put her focus on me & asked what help I needed. I asked first about the wet areas on the carpet, and explained the other issues. The housekeeping came in stomped on a towel to get up some of the liquid & left. She never did return. I guess we were cleaning up after her. So, when we went for supper, I reported the issues at the front desk, since we still could not call out. The morning we were checking out, we were woken up about 8AM, by more yelling & laughing in the hallway that went on 45 minutes to an hour. It woke all of us , in both rooms. We were really mad. I work in a very stressful environment , and was trying to have a few relaxing days away from yelling. I finally got up, went ot the door, opened it & slammed it ...to let them know we were still trying to sleep. The remark made was " If they don't like it , let them leave". So, again, since our phones were still not working...I stopped at the desk. I was really upset this time. They said , if we are willing to return , they will pamper us. They said they couldn't comp the room, since it was charged already. I really doubt that. They did remove the charge we had on our room bill. I think we deserve a Free getaway and meals, as a way to try to make up for such poor hospitality & rudeness on the part of the staff. Room only partially made up when we checked in, and that was late afternoon, so no excuse.
No information at all in the room about hotel services, restaurants, facilities, and front desk said "they are working on it". Never seen a hotel without info in the room.
Room layout was pleasant, view good.
Restaurant (Carmine's) in the Quarter was very good. Although very busy, we were seated quickly. Waiter was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and portion sizes (huge). He seemed to know better that we did about how much to order, and he was right. Bus help was good, in that they had the earlier course leftovers packed up for us even before the remaining courses arrived.
Shopping is good in the Quarter. The Zeytinia Gourmet Food Shop has a wide and wild variety, but watch out for the prices.
Took about 25 minutes for the valet to retrieve our vehicle, but it was a busy checkout time, and in their defense, they helped load up the truck.
