We stayed on a Thursday night for a reasonable price ($97.00), which is easily the most I would ever be willing to spend in the future. We were considering staying Friday night until the front desk stated it would be $299.00 - no way is this hotel worth that much for a night. Not too mention the outdoor pool is a joke - I have seen motels with a better set up. In general, the hotel is old and outdated but decent enough to spend under $100 to stay there.

While I am not wheelchair confined, I cannot walk long distances. I was assigned a room in the West Tower, which was the farthest from anything. Had to request a North Tower Room. Change of room was done expeditiously, however, I was charged an upgrade fee and had to walk to and from old room to meet the bellhop. Once settled the hotel stay was pleasurable. I and my family will definitely return but to the North Tower which is close proximity to everything.

The Tropicana has come a long way and is truly a gem in an ugly city. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how a mobster can build a palace in the desert but AC can't keep their beach front clean and decent. AC still pails in comparison to Vegas. However, the Trop itself has really had a nice face lift - stay there, you won't be sorry. I had three issues:
1. The public areas - not the rooms - elevators, food court, Seaside Cafe could have been cleaner.
2. Casino comps are a joke; don't put your dinners, spa treatments on your room charges, pit bosses aren't intelligent enough to figure that out and ALWAYS, ALWAYS check your points - I don't think casino personnel can count and don't expect any assistance; one class B act after another.
3. The check-in and concierge service are simply unprofessional. The Trop's personnel have no concept of customer service. Nothing is done for you - an action passed is an action completed for their front desk staff. I was frustrated everytime I went down there.
Summary - this is a nice hotel with much to do for all - kids too. YOu will enjoy your stay in general. Stay in the Havana tower - the other towers are junk and for the unfortunate senior citizen who doesn't check the internet. If you are a gambler, gamble somewhere else. If you are a neat freak IN THE PUBLIC areas, keep your nose in the air so you don't see the junk on the floors. The Comedy Club was very good - enjoy it, it is worth the ticket price and one-drink minimum. Don't see Fame unless you get the ticket for free and even then, you should consider using it to scrape the crumbs off of the Seaside Cafe tables. Fame was simply terrible - I mean really bad. Carmines restaurant is fantastic as always and Cuba Libre is second to none - loved them both. The beach service at the Trop is super as well - towels galore and the prices aren't too bad for a chair or cabana. I was impressed.

The water pressure was very low in the shower.That could be improved.I would like to see some type of schedule written up listing the
shops in the area and where they are located.I feel this should be given out at check-in time.Also your personnel could act alot more friendly,remember its how you are treated that really makes or brakes your decision to return or not. Some of your staff needs training to become better at making your guests feel welcomed.

When checking in we were not greeted very well. We felt very confused about where things were located around the hotel. We could have used some type of brochure or explanation of what we could find and where to find it inside the hotel. Once we figured out where things were we had a fun time celebrating our 10th anniversary. The casino was fun and had many games and slots to choose from. Other staff we encountered, from security to check out desk were friendly and helpful. We saw Transformers on their I-Max theater and it was great!

This hotel is clean but the service is lousy during check in and check out time the elevators don't run fast enough. Not enough personnel at the counter to expedite check out time. One of express check out machine was not working throughout my stay there. But overall I wasn't totally dissatisfied. I would strongly recommend this hotel to someone for a quick getaway. The rooms are very clean and large, the beds were nice and comfortable. Entertainment was very good.

The elevators take forever and there is no usable staircase as an alternative. They are improving their elevator controls or so the signs said but I heard this has been going on for 6 months. I had to wait for an elevator in a long line for over 45 minutes to get to my room and I never caught a down elevator for 2 days. We always had to take a back staircase that dumped you out at the parking garage and then use that elevator to get to the casino floor. All this was very frustrating and a total inconvenience for our entire stay. There is no way it should take 6 months to fix this problem. There should be elevator repairman on the job 24/7 until the problem is fixed. Spend the money you have no problem having me spend my money.

We got off to a bad start because check-in at Havana Tower (parking deck) was a horror. The concierge desk had only one person who refused to call for help. We waited for nearly 20 minutes and the poor check in service nearly ruined things for us. However once we got to the room which was a nice, big, clean room things improved. Room service was courteous and fast. We loved being right on the boardwalk. Hotel shops were terrific

The web site said they had recently renovated the hotel, but they did not renovate the rooms. Very old looking, and holes in hallway walls. The area for restaurants and casino was nice to see, but being it was my first wedding anniversary with my wife, it was not romantic to stay at because of the rooms look. The wireless internet was very restricted, we could not get onto a msging service there. The roads to get to parking were very confusing and not marked very well. I got lost twice driving under the hotel to find the right parking garage. And why is there one old man there at the reception desk telling the customer when an available associate is ready for you to walk the ten feet to them. Seems like big waste of money on someones salary. all of us in line were commenting on how stupid and wasteful of a position.

Overall it was a very nice experience. We did not like the room that much, however I stayed in the Havana Tower which had a great view. The dining area was wonderful, We dined at Carmine's which was great the food was amazing. We partied at Providence which was soooooo much fun, it is a very nice nightclub. The shopping area is located right in the Lobby which is a good thing. The Casinos are very nice. I had an Amazing time.

I have stayed at the Tropicana before and found it to be an enjoyable experience. But this stay was different. The hotel seemed overcrowded and the elevators were not working properly. It took ten to fifteen minutes to get to the casino level every time we needed to take an elevator. By the time we left, they had assigned an employee to manually override the elevator and act as an elevator operator. However, the casino is very nice, there were plenty of gaming tables open, making it easy to get into blackjack and craps. Also, the hotel's amenities and shopping are nice. In short the hotel is a nice place to make a stop, but I don't know that I would stay here again.

Paid to stay in Havanna tower- more money and it was a typical room with king bed- would have been nice to have bigger tub or shower separate.
even though it was smoking would have been nice to have a fan in the rest room.Needs a little updating as far as bed spreads and curtains.I really did enjoy that you couldn't hear the people around you.Nice to get request honored for a view of ocean and the city.

We stayed here on a recommendation from a friend and it wasn't terrible, but after visiting several other casinos I defiantly wouldn't go back. The smoking/non-smoking arrangement was not effective and I always felt like I was in the smoking section; several of the restaurants and clubs were closed and there were no clear hours of operation posted on a few; the game tables were too close together and based on the number of people on the floor there were not enough open(in fact we didn't get the chance to play there at all and ended up spending most of our time at Caesers). I would have been mildly satisfied if I wouldn't have left the building, but I did and realized was the others had to offer.

We had a few problems from the start. We had reservations for 2 adjoining rooms. When we got there, that was a problem. After finally checking in, my daughter knelt on the floor to put her clothes in the dresser & got her new "very expensive " jeans full of some type of cleaner. She was really upset. We tried to call the front desk, but neither phone worked. While we continued to unpack, we also found that our safe did not work & the one remote needed batteries. Finally , I heard housekeeping outside our door. When I opened the door , however, the woman was telling off her co-worker. She was screaming at him, and my looking at her & waiting for her help didn't matter. She kept screaming about ..."When I ask if there are towels , I don't need to know if they are in the closet, I need them here in my cart" This went on & On , till finally a supervisor showed up & told her to stop . She however kept it up & was told again to stop it now !!! Then the supervisor put her focus on me & asked what help I needed. I asked first about the wet areas on the carpet, and explained the other issues. The housekeeping came in stomped on a towel to get up some of the liquid & left. She never did return. I guess we were cleaning up after her. So, when we went for supper, I reported the issues at the front desk, since we still could not call out. The morning we were checking out, we were woken up about 8AM, by more yelling & laughing in the hallway that went on 45 minutes to an hour. It woke all of us , in both rooms. We were really mad. I work in a very stressful environment , and was trying to have a few relaxing days away from yelling. I finally got up, went ot the door, opened it & slammed it ...to let them know we were still trying to sleep. The remark made was " If they don't like it , let them leave". So, again, since our phones were still not working...I stopped at the desk. I was really upset this time. They said , if we are willing to return , they will pamper us. They said they couldn't comp the room, since it was charged already. I really doubt that. They did remove the charge we had on our room bill. I think we deserve a Free getaway and meals, as a way to try to make up for such poor hospitality & rudeness on the part of the staff.
