We had already booked then read reviews about the rooms, kind of backwards, but we discovered the rooms were very clean and yes we will go back to this hotel again. It rained for the 2 days but were still able to get from one area outside to another with no difficulty. We did a personal check out at counter at 7 am and the staff was of no help at all, in fact rude. Since we billed our room and our friends all on our card, it would have been nice to make sure our card wasn't charged for both rooms, this was why we didn't do an express check out. Hopefully when our statement arrives, we can put our fears to rest.

After a few days the room smelled of smoke. My wife and I do not smoke. Management first tried to spray the air. When that didn't work they stated that the only way to eliminate the smoke was to turn the air conditioner on at 60 degrees. They had to provide us with four blankets to stop us from freezing to death. The air conditioner did not eliminate the smoke.
Also, the Canal Street restaurant plays games with you. I was told that my total rewards card would be updated with credits if I supplied it. When I stated that I would go back to the room to get it I was told that it was too late. A few days later I brought the total rewards card with me. Even though I was paying cash for the meal they would not allow me to use the card unless I supplied a drivers license.

My mom, brother, and I arrived Tuesday around 2:00 p.m. I had booked 2 rooms, one handicapped for my brother. one regular for us . His was ready , ours wasn't. We didn't care, so we played in the casino for a couple of hours. Everyone was super nice through our whole stay. We come to Atlantic City twice a year and we will be staying at Showboat from now on.

I did not realize that the Showboat was at the far end of the boardwalk. My plans, at first, were to stay at the Hilton, but I thought it was too far away from the other casinos. Little did I know. If there was a way to show the time between casino it might help in the decision making on weather to walk or take a jitney.
I did have a problem with the hotel. On Tuesday when we went back to our room, it was never cleaned. I asked one of the cleaning ladies why. But she only said that she did not know because it was not her shift. I did not say anything because it was not that big of a deal.

Nice hotel and good food. At check in the service person was not that friendly and did not give clear directions on how to get to our room.
We figured it out. Room was very clean and smelled good as well. Room service was excellent, we had a roll in table and the serving sizes were well worth the money spent. We stayed on off days, Sunday through Tuesday, not much really happening during that time. Overall, I would stay here again and I would recommend this hotel as well.

The room was better than expected for the price, and considering some pretty brutal reviews posted. I was not disappointed in my stay. We had a great couple of days and the House of Blues Restaurant and Music Hall were both excellent. The valet did however, steal our GPS out of the glove compartment, so be smart and don't leave it in the car as we did. Room Service was prompt and tasty, and the room attendants were very accommodating. Check in and out was a breeze.

My stay here was not what I would have imagined. It was only better. I had great services, The workers did go that extra mile to make sure that I was very well taken care of. My significant other had a great time, and it was his first time in Atlantic City. He is looking forward coming back and staying here at Showboat. The hotel room was clean and the king size bed was nice. They could have provided more pillows. Three small pillows for a king size bed sleeping two adults is insufficient. I would definitely stay here again because the rooms are inexpensive and the casino has low priced table games. The only other drawback is it is all the way on one end of the boardwalk, so if you do not like to walk a few miles this place is not for you. Overall the experience was positive.

I had a really good stay at the Showboat.
My only dislike was the cigarette smoke smell!!
There were designated areas to smoke which I stayed away from but the smoke traveled throughout the casino! My clothes wreaked if I was in the casino for too long!
But other than that the hotel was great!
Good restaurants, great service, great drinks! Entertainment at all times of night. Right at the end of the boardwalk so we walked back and got to see so much! There were go karts, bumper cars, vendors, Ferris wheel! We really had an awesome time! I will definitely come back!

My friend and I have known each other for 25 years. I chose the Showboat by chance because we wanted to rekindle this relationship. I picked a perfect place. The location was very good because it gave us a chance to walk and talk on the boardwalk. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable.I would recommend this hotel to all my family and friends. We plan on staying again, but next time I want to stay in the tower with the full ocean view.

we stayed @ your showboat location from 8/24-8/27/09 my husband made the reservations as a surprise to celebrate his birthday on 8/24 and our 20th anniversary on 8/25. When we checked in your hotel had us in non smoking and we had to prove with the confirmation my hus printed that he ordered smoking they said there were no more rooms available then 1 min later there was.Now my husband was visibly upset that his plans were going wrong now. When we arrived at our room I opened the curtains and to my surprise we had a breathtaking view of a wall that's it a wall. We proceeded to complain about our room & were told there was nothing that could be done. Your staff from beginning to end is the most unpersonable staff we have ever encountered in any hotels we have stayed over the course of 20 years. We have to rate you by far the worst. I felt so bad for my husband here he planned this surprise to celebrate & I would have complained further to your staff & supervisors but I did not want to upset my husband anymore. He kept on apologizing to me for the horrible room. Your staff was made aware of how important this trip was to us & nobody cared to make it better no apology no kindness no nothing. If that is how you train your staff then somebody better include a smile and a touch of kindness in the rule book. Just because we asked for a smoking room does not make us second class citizens, our money is just as good as non smoking & it paid the bill just the same. When we checked out I advised a supervisor that your check in & check out staff needs to be worked on & her answer was not what was wrong it was I will have to look into that. Thank you for ruining my 20th anniversary which was suppose to be a good memory turned out to be a horror. I will tell everyone traveling to AC not to stay at showboat.

Was very happy with the attractions and having everything we needed right there in walking distance.
The room was nice,the entertainment was nice,had a really nice time.Was not pleased with the check-in.I had reserved the room way in advance and paid in full,smoking room.At check-in.The person that I had dealt with was very rude and not very understanding,I was basically told I don't know what to tell you. I was told there were no more smoking rooms.When I had told them I reserved one I was told they were a first come first serve basis.I feel that I should have been told that when I had reserved the room ahead of time.I had also reserved a room with a view.Was disappointed with that.I had gotten a room with the valet parking view and the parking garage.The room was very nice.

My big problem with this hotel was that our room was in such bad shape. The door looked like someone had a fight with it and loss. The inside was all banged up and and scratched and burnt(just very old). Our room was next to the elevator and you heard it go up and down and make stops on all the floors banging all night(very hard to get any sleep). When asked to be moved the clerk at the front desk did not help me and would not give us any reason why,just said sorry. The casino was great and the people were very nice. The hotel had good food but we found ourselves going out of our hotel and going to others places to eat.We loved the little show that they put on several times a day on the casino floor. We love using Atlantic City.com for our reservations and will use them again but we did feel like they treated us different because we did not book our stay with them,(the casino). If you are looking for a nice pool and a way to relax this might not be for you. The pool was very small and dirty. We were looking for a beautiful view of the beach or even a partial view and all we got was a construction site which made a lot of noise.It will be very hard for me to stay at this hotel again.

I enjoyed my stay at Showboat but except for two things. First I can't wait till the no-smoking ban goes into effect....it was very smokey throughout the whole casino! Second, I was disappointed in the beach at Showboat. There isn't much beach and whatever beach was there, the sand was slanted so it was rather difficult to lay or sit in a chair on a curve! Otherwise, I still enjoy the shows and great food! I would come back again!

My recent stay (August 2009) at Atlantic City's Showboat Hotel & Casino was the worst hotel experience I have ever encountered. My roommate and I were locked in our rooms from the inside due to a mal-functioning bolt lock which is a huge fire and safety code violation. Even the Locksmith and Security Supervisor accidentally locked themselves in our room while testing it again. This was a very unnerving way of starting my vacation. They showed no guest safety concern and did not acknowledge a problem....I had to work very hard to get my room changed and had a very difficult interaction with the front desk supervisor Maryann. Needless to say, my experience did not improve from there. The room that I was eventually changed to was a different floor but in worse condition than the one before. Absolutely no water pressure at the shower, poor ventilation (smoke) in the casino. I attempted to give Showboat another attempt to make this right by speaking with another front desk supervisor (Rose) who was very supportive, but was given the impression that she had no authority to make this better for me and my guest. She provided me with the name and contact numbers of the hotel manager and hotel director. I left a detailed voice mail message for the director, Mr. J. Welch right after speaking with Rose, but I have yet to hear back or receive an apology for a terrible experience, poor customer service, and acknowledging guest safety concerns. The thought of having to leave my room during a fire or emergency in the middle of the night and not being able to gives me chills. I would hate that another paying customer goes through even half the poor experience I had. P.C., Coral Springs, FL
