Instead of rewriting my experience. I will post the letter I sent to hotel management.
Letter reads:Dear Sir or Madam,
I regret having to write to you about an unpleasant experience I've had with your company. I prefer to contact a company only in praise of an employee or the company's actions. Unfortunately, my situation is such that it is necessary for me to forward a complaint to you.
My husband and I stayed at the Showboat Atlantic City on the evening of May 21, 2010 and checked out on May 22, 2010. We were looking to spend a night away from home and celebrate my husband's birthday. After a night in the casino and nightclub, we returned to our room shortly before 2 A.M. This is where the nightmare began. Upon entering the room, we smelled a distinct marijuana scent coming from the adjoining room. As I began to place a towel under the door to keep the plumes of smoke out of our room, I was overcome by the smoke. My husband called down to the front desk and after numerous transfers, security was finally going to be sent up to our room. I became so sick that I was confined to the bathroom until help arrived. Once security entered our room, they asked my husband whether WE had someone else in the room (suggesting that person smoked the marijuana). After he explained that we were alone, I emerged from the bathroom and was taken down to the nurse, with difficulty breathing and coughing. My husband was worried and afraid for me. He called down to the front desk again and reached Justin, the manager on duty. Annoyed with my husband's call, Justin told him, "If you stop calling, maybe I can get something done." This is unsatisfactory behavior from a representative of your company.
While being seen by the nurse, I was presented with a key to a new room. I hardly felt this was compensation for what we went through. Our night was completely ruined. Not only was our night ruined, my livelihood may be affected. I am scheduled to take a drug test on May 25, 2010, after nearly two years of unemployment. I am now faced with bearing the weight of the possibility I may test positive because the Showboat fosters an environment where marijuana non-smoking in rooms is customary. As for the guests in the next room, Security attempted to knock on the door of the smoke filled room, but no one answered. I find it completely unfair to us that we were not the one's doing anything illegal, yet the true perpetrators could simply choose not to answer the door and continue to enjoy their night. Why were the police not involved? Its sad The Showboat accepts this sort of behavior from your guests as status quo.
My husband and I have spoken with Justin the night manager, and Scott Duberson, the Hotel Operations Supervisor and have gotten nowhere. Scott offered us a twenty five dollar food voucher. I find this laughable considering I was exposed to toxic smoke and the room cost us over two hundred dollars for the night. It is nice to know that my health and livelihood have been valued so low. I believe anything less than a full refund is unacceptable.
UPDATE: Hotel management called my husband and claimed we'd receive a refund. Needless to say that has NEVER happened.. DO NOT STAY HERE... The security and nurse acted as if marijuana smoking is happens on a regular basis and they do nothing about it.

Arrival began well upon checking in. Went to room to drop off luggage and then out to eat. Returned to find room key not working and had to go to the front desk. We had to check in again. We then returned to the room only to have security knocking on door telling us we had to return to the front desk this was now the 3rd time. Guest services at this time was helpful but never gave a reason why this happened.
There was a hole in the coverlet on the bed and the sheets were ripped. There was hair on the bathroom floor that was not ours. Reported the hair to housekeeping and they allegedly came and cleaned. Ordered Room Service for breakfast and that gets an A plus for service and food. On the last day there was loud drilling in the hall around 8:30 a.m. - who wants to hear that on vacation? I am sorry but the experience of booking through you was great but the hotel was less than satisfactory.

I had a issue with the additional buffet that I purchased. I got hung up in traffic and I arrived after 9p.m and the hotel told me the buffet was closed and the agent who checked me in and her boss refused to try to help me. I found this very rude especially since we were talking about a matter of $10.00. I found this very penny wise and dollar foolish. I checked into the hotel and went elsewhere to gamble.

Not only was my room request not granted but the room was not clean. There was coffee still in the coffee pot when we arrived, the shower had pubic hairs all over. When I cleaned the room myself I took a shower and the water keep turning off. When my husband and I requested to be moved our answer was for an additional 39.00 a night we can change your room. Very poor customer service. We went to the pool and the lifeguard was clipping his finger and toe nails. Would not recommend this hotel/casino to anyone.

First impression,No porters to help with luggage. We check in to find that the Buffet is closed all day on Thursdays.You help (not front desk) such as cashiers would chat would other workers while we waited. Also I fought...I do mean fought with someone about needing add'l pillows.
His name was Anthony, a supervisor, and I explained I had a condition that I needed extra and he wouldn't send up....finally he did.
Rude and unaccommodating.

I had spent thousands of dollars while there and got absolutely NO compensation. They wouldn't even make rsvp for a show at another hotel for me and my family. There was no entertainment at the casino and no information pertaining to events, specials, shuttle services between casinos, etc. The room was clean, however no attention to detail. An example, I had to call housekeeping because there was no coffee or cups in the room. When he arrived, the person knocked, handed me a bag and left without saying a word. I felt like a third class visitor and would probably not return again. Very disappointed with the way we were treated.

we stayed @ your showboat location from 8/24-8/27/09 my husband made the reservations as a surprise to celebrate his birthday on 8/24 and our 20th anniversary on 8/25. When we checked in your hotel had us in non smoking and we had to prove with the confirmation my hus printed that he ordered smoking they said there were no more rooms available then 1 min later there was.Now my husband was visibly upset that his plans were going wrong now. When we arrived at our room I opened the curtains and to my surprise we had a breathtaking view of a wall that's it a wall. We proceeded to complain about our room & were told there was nothing that could be done. Your staff from beginning to end is the most unpersonable staff we have ever encountered in any hotels we have stayed over the course of 20 years. We have to rate you by far the worst. I felt so bad for my husband here he planned this surprise to celebrate & I would have complained further to your staff & supervisors but I did not want to upset my husband anymore. He kept on apologizing to me for the horrible room. Your staff was made aware of how important this trip was to us & nobody cared to make it better no apology no kindness no nothing. If that is how you train your staff then somebody better include a smile and a touch of kindness in the rule book. Just because we asked for a smoking room does not make us second class citizens, our money is just as good as non smoking & it paid the bill just the same. When we checked out I advised a supervisor that your check in & check out staff needs to be worked on & her answer was not what was wrong it was I will have to look into that. Thank you for ruining my 20th anniversary which was suppose to be a good memory turned out to be a horror. I will tell everyone traveling to AC not to stay at showboat.

My recent stay (August 2009) at Atlantic City's Showboat Hotel & Casino was the worst hotel experience I have ever encountered. My roommate and I were locked in our rooms from the inside due to a mal-functioning bolt lock which is a huge fire and safety code violation. Even the Locksmith and Security Supervisor accidentally locked themselves in our room while testing it again. This was a very unnerving way of starting my vacation. They showed no guest safety concern and did not acknowledge a problem....I had to work very hard to get my room changed and had a very difficult interaction with the front desk supervisor Maryann. Needless to say, my experience did not improve from there. The room that I was eventually changed to was a different floor but in worse condition than the one before. Absolutely no water pressure at the shower, poor ventilation (smoke) in the casino. I attempted to give Showboat another attempt to make this right by speaking with another front desk supervisor (Rose) who was very supportive, but was given the impression that she had no authority to make this better for me and my guest. She provided me with the name and contact numbers of the hotel manager and hotel director. I left a detailed voice mail message for the director, Mr. J. Welch right after speaking with Rose, but I have yet to hear back or receive an apology for a terrible experience, poor customer service, and acknowledging guest safety concerns. The thought of having to leave my room during a fire or emergency in the middle of the night and not being able to gives me chills. We stayed at the showboat and the location is not bad, the beach in front is not big and has too much dried up sea weed, if you go down further to the other side of the rides the beach is much cleaner. I was a bit disappointed in the room as it had this mildew smell as if the carpet was never cleaned,it also has this must smoking smell to it even though i am a smoker this smell just didn't sit well with me. I had to have the cleaning lady spray several times.
The room itself was actually nice and and I enjoyed the view other then the smell I did enjoy my stay.

Told the check-in clerk we had requested high floor overlooking ocean. He said the highest they had was tenth floor. We got to the room our view was a large building under construction with dumpsters and cranes.We called desk and told them we wanted ocean view, was informed that was the only room they had. First night, couple next door argued and yelled all night. Second night, children running up and down the hall yelling. Buffet was great!

It is extremely upsetting that I booked my room for 2 beds and got there to be told that I only got one. It wasn't as if I was there with a significant other. I was there with an associate. We were not about to share a room! Not to mention that I checked in at 7:30pm and it still wasn't ready or cleaned! I paid almost $600 for two nights and both were spent on a cot! I proceeded to the front desk and they gave me a fit about my unhappiness. It was as if they didn't care. I will not be back to the Showboat.

The front desk could not find my reservation and were not very accommodating when asked to change our room. We had requested a NON SMOKING room and the room smelled smoky! The room was not clean and did not have cups in the bathroom 2 out of 3 days.
The location of the hotel is at the end of the boardwalk and far from everything worth walking to. Our room faced the parking garage and we paid over $250. per night.

I was very disappointed with this hotel. At my check-in none of the hotel services were explained, such as Total Rewards Card, shuttle services to other hotels and self-parking. I learned about all of these through another guest. Once in the room, the bell hop was rude, hairdryer broken and the view was of a construction site (which you could hear at the early hours of the morning). I asked to be moved ... I was offered a smoking with King Bed, the complete opposite I was staying in. The restaurants were decent, but I ended up going to other casinos for meals. The beach was not as good as was if you walked down the Boardwalk a little way. Also, the roof-top pool is terrible and not what was expected. It was small, round and could only hold twenty people comfortably. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone for any reason.

Overall this stay was not up to the usual standards of the Showboat hotel. Our past experiences were all fine but this time we seemed to encounter staff members that were sub-par. I realize that due to circumstances occasionally staff members have a bad day also as they are human like everyone else. The only thing that struck me as openly inconsiderate was the noise in the hall made by the room cleaning staff. I go there to relax while my wife enjoys playing the slots. My wife seemed to have a good time except she was not satisfied with the unclean feel of the bed. I on the other hand was very happy when we finally returned home.
