The room itself was wonderful (we had a kitchenette) and the view was amazing! The hotel itself was beautiful, but upon walking in, my finance was immediately approached by someone trying to sell him a time-share. The halls on all the floors are very very dark (wallpaper is almost an eggplant color) so it feels very claustrophobic. You're not walking in the hallways much, but it was very noticeable every time you stepped out of the room or elevator. The coffee maker didn't work at all, and even if it did, they provided a 12 cup coffee maker with a 2-cup packet of coffee! The TV initially didn't work & I called the front desk. I had to call back again 20 minutes later because no one had shown up at that point. The TV was fixed and all was fine. I would still recommend this hotel, though, because as I said before, the room itself was really wonderful. Everything was very very clean, and all of the staff were very friendly and helpful. For the price we were able to book it at, the little problems we encountered weren't such a big deal. However, if I had paid more than $160 a night, I'd be very upset. My initial reaction was a pleasant one until I got to the room. The first room was the worse! No heat, crappy mattress, just looked old and worn! I was truly worried that I had wasted a whole evening b/c I was not at all interested in staying in that hotel! They tried to fix the heating, but it still wasn't the quality that the pictures referenced and I was thoroughly dissatisfied! I was prepared to ride back to MD late that night! My only incentive to stay was the fact that I wouldn't have gotten my money back had I left! (and that wasn't that great of an incentive!)
Atlantic Palace, however, redeemed itself by moving me to an renovated room that was well worth the money! Everything in the refurbished rooms was great! From the curtains to the bathrooms, the lighting, the quality of the bed, the micro/fridge, the TV/DVD... everything about the room, I was pleased! The jetted tub was on the money! This room was reflective of an "all suite hotel." The newer rooms are great for the price and the hotel staff is friendly and accommodating! Even in the situation with the first room, the staff was pleasant and did their best to accommodate me and make this stay as enjoyable as possible. I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for a relaxing evening away from home (just hope the room is an upgraded one!)
