These two powerhouse groups are joining forces once again to entertain their legions of loyal fans. This spring, they bring their unique blend of power pop and rock to the House of Blues in Atlantic City.
Relient K has been in the mainstream for 15 years and continues to work in their niche genre of Christian rock and punk, while Hellogoodbye brings high-energy pop vocals and memorable lyrics to the tour. The two groups toured together last year, and after the successful and memorable shows from that tag-team trip, they’ve decided to thrill the crowds with a new national tour.
On May 11, 2013, the two groups will be headlining at the House of Blues in Atlantic City, for what promises to be another installment of excitement and energy into the AC music scene.
Changing of the Guard
Relient K’s new album, Collapsible Lung, is due out in July of this year, and this new tour will be a big push promoting those new tracks, including their new song “Don’t Blink”, which was released on their Facebook page for fans last month. They also released a lyric video of this fresh track on the band’s Youtube Channel.
However, the faces on stage will be slightly different for this tour, since three of the band’s musicians will not be touring, including long-time drummer Ethan Luck, who has decided to move on from the group. Matt Thiessen and Matt Hoopes, who co-founded the band and are the lead vocalist and guitar player, respectively, will both be present and accounted for on this latest tour.
Don’t Call It A Comeback
Although it has been nearly three years since Hellogoodbye released a studio album, this alternative pop group is not bowing out of its’ budding career. In March of 2013, the band released a live album titled Did It Kill You?, that they had recorded at a house party a few months earlier. This was a play on the band’s 2010 album, Would It Kill You?, which solidified the band as a significant indie pop force to be reckoned with.
The band is known for its’ offbeat and synthpop style, which has grown in popularity in recent years, and the band commonly plays at small venues, which seem to add to the intimate, yet eccentric feel of their music.
This newest tour with Relient K might be the momentum-building push to their third LP, rumored to be coming out in 2013. News of this new album came out after the band signed with Old Friends Records back in 2012.
If you’re a fan of the alternative Christian rock gods of Relient K, or if you dig the hip and offbeat tracks of the always entertaining Hellogoodbye, than the House of Blues is the place to be on May 11th. Showboat Atlantic City is the hotel closest to show, so book soon as shows like this one are sure to bring the crowds.
Tickets are on sale now for the 8pm show on May 11th, 2013, at the House of Blues in Atlantic City. Tickets start at $20, and the doors open at 7pm.
