Often called the “Celine Dion of Country Music”, Martina McBride has been thrilling fans and country music lovers for more than two decades now, and her impressive record of albums and #1 hits is only matched by her charitable work. She has set herself apart as a true role model and star of the music world, and is coming to Caesar’s Atlantic City on September 20th for another unforgettable show.
A Woman of the People
This talented songstress, along with racking up more than 14 million album sales in the past 20 years, has become a symbol for charity and generosity in the music community. She has channeled her wide popularity into a number of philanthropic efforts over the course of her career, and she continues to do more and more every year. Many of her charities focus on domestic violence issues, and she is the spokeswoman for the National Domestic Violence Hotline and the national spokeswoman for the Tulsa Domestic Violence and Intervention Services. She has raised nearly a half a million dollars at the “Celebrity Auction” for the Middle Tennessee’s YWCA and has also been actively involved in teen abuse and finding ways to share information and resources so people around the country understand that they are not alone.
She has also inspired a group called Team Martina, which is a global group of volunteers and fans that got together in 2011 to begin raising money for cancer. Last month, August 2013, this organization raised more than $40,000 for cancer research, which was donated to the Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center in Nashville. This is only one of the many projects that this inspiring group of people has participated in over the past three years, all begun by following Martin McBride’s stellar example of giving back to those who need help. McBride often sings regularly at charity events and fundraisers across the globe. Here is McBride singing one of her most popular tunes, “Anyway” at the 2011 MDA Telethon.
Still A Songbird
It’s amazing to think that along with all of her dedicated work with charities, that she has time for new albums, tours, and appearances all over the globe for her brilliant musical talents. The fact that she is one of the consummate country singers of her generation is almost easy to forget! She has had five #1 hits on the Country Billboard charts and has released more than a dozen albums. Her soulful sound is similar to Faith Hill and Shania Twain, but her stunning soprano range includes her in the category of an adult contemporary singer, and she has shown her range in a variety of songs and albums throughout her now-legendary career.
