Hard Rock International, famous for its rock and roll-themed cafes, said on Tuesday it will develop a $300 million casino-hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The move follows recent state legislation aimed at encouraging new development in Atlantic City, whose gambling revenue has dropped amid the recent economic downturn as well as new competition in neighboring states like Pennsylvania, where gambling was approved in 2006. Hard Rock, owned by Florida’s Seminole Indian tribe, said the proposed legislation would allow developers to build new casinos in Atlantic City with fewer than 500 hotel rooms, significantly reducing construction costs. “We are intrigued by the newly proposed legislation, which makes entering the marketplace more manageable,” Hard Rock Chairman Jim Allen said in a statement. “Despite current headwinds, Atlantic City remains the country’s second-largest gaming market and would be an exciting location for a Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.” He said the estimated $300 million price of the project does not include the cost of land — a beachfront parcel along the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Hard Rock, based in Orlando, Florida, has a total of 162 venues in 52 countries, including 13 casino-hotels.

Lady Gaga canceled her appearance at the hotel with just 24 hours notice.

Gaga’s camp claimed she was fighting exhaustion and dehydration late Thursday night when they pulled her gig at Purdue University in Indiana (where her two opening acts had performed before there was word she wouldn’t be coming on). They used the same excuse the next day for Gaga’s New Jersey show but — no shocker here — the singer was well enough to appear live on “Oprah” that very afternoon.

“This is what happens when spoiled rich girls become entertainers,” one disgruntled fan wrote on her official Web site. “They don’t care about anything but themselves.”

Atlantic City has most definitely been home to a great many musical acts and spectacles but few are as exciting as the upcoming event featuring the “Dynamic Duo” of Lady Gaga and Jason Derulo. The “Day ‘N’ Nite” rapper announced that he is pulling out of the tour due to time conflicts.In a statement released on Wednesday (Dec. 16), he explained his departure. “Kid Cudi has decided to take an early leave of absence from Lady Gaga’s Monster Ball tour, in order to balance his schedule surrounding the recording of his next album and acting commitments. Cudi does not want to disappoint his fans and will move forward with his individual show dates in December and throughout the month of January.”

The show will take place at the Borgata Event Center in Atlantic City on the Saturday evening of January 16, 2010.This event is going to be a huge hit,after being sold out in a record time of 10 minutes,people hardly doubt it. The Pink Floyd Laser Show in Atlantic City, NJ is a show that you will not want to miss! This Laser Spectacular show done by the Texas-based expertise of Paramount Entertainment will have you awe as it takes you in by their special laser techniques. Synchronized to the music of the popular Pink Floyd, this 90-minute show was first done back in the early 90s.

There are very few rock bands that have thrived through several decades. Often, a band may devise a certain musical sound but its appeal will be limited by the social and cultural aspects of the time period it emerged. Then, there are those excellent bands that can thrive and grow through each passing decade. This allows them to maintain their old fans while capturing new ones. Such is the case with the legendary band Loverboy. This band has entertained millions over the years and now they are bringing their special sound to Atlantic City, NJ as part of their new concert tour.

One reason for the tour is that it is intended to help promote the band’s new CD release which features re-mastered versions of the band’s classic songs. And, of course, the songs will be featured on the band’s concert performances. As such, anyone that loves the legendary songs this band has recorded can enjoy them through live and in person when they appear at the world famous Hilton Casino in Atlantic City.

The Hilton is one of the most popular casinos in Atlantic City and it has long since been a great venue for enjoying concerts of all sorts. A complete role call of the many famous bands that have appeared at The Hilton would be far too expansive to present in a short blog post. Loverboy first emerged on the music scene in Vancouver, Canada in 1980. The band quickly emerged as a popular local attraction and began touring Canada and the United States. Despite the fact that the band was clearly popular among its growing fan base, no American record label would sign Loverboy to a deal. It was the Canadian division of Columbia Records that eventually did sign them and it turned out to be a tremendous decision. Loverboy would go on to sell several millions of albums and became one of the hottest touring bands of the 1980’s.

As the years moved forward, Loverboy sought a lower profile during the 1990’s. This is not to say the band was not producing albums (CDs) or touring. Actually, Loverboy was quite active and this helped the band maintain its fan base even as musical tastes changed. Of course, the evolution of Loverboy’s style of music certainly played a role in the bands ability to remain a popular concert tour draw. Now, the band is entering into its third decade together and its new tour is drawing very well as sellouts are becoming commonplace.

Those in the New Jersey area should definitely purchase their tickets for this amazing concert event. This will be Loverboy’s only appearance in Atlantic City this year and it should no be missed. And it certainly should not be missed by longtime Loverboy fans. Really, this will be a special event.
