Catch Up With Natalie Cole at Tropicana Showroom This New Years Eve!

Natalie Maria Cole is a musical prodigy, born of Nat King Cole and Maria Cole. She grew up in California and began performing when she was only eleven years old. It wasn’t long until she was all grown up and making her own albums. Twenty one of them to be exact.
Natalie made an appearance on Law and Order SVU, as well as Grey’s Anatomy. From the small screen to the big stage, she has never lost her talent. She even released a number of cover songs, and even collaborated with Dallas Austin on one of her albums. She is truly a tough act to follow, and one that many will try to imitate in the years to come. Whether or not they will succeed is a matter of opinion, though many say that there will never be another Natalie Cole.
To this day she continues to tour and shares her music with the entire world. There is almost no one on earth that doesn’t know her name, whether they heard a little bit of her music, or own the entire collection. No matter what it is, her music is known far and wide. Perhaps it is because she is the daughter of the famous Nat King Cole, but many would say that that she has moved out of his shadow and has made her own way in the music industry.
She will be performing Thursday December 31, 10:30 PM at the Tropicana Showroom. Tickets are limited, so make sure you know everything about the location, and make sure you get tickets for your family! Let’s talk a little about the Tropicana Casino.
The Tropicana Casino and Resort is a great place to be, as it is a 24 hour gaming resort. You will find it directly on the beach, and it has well over two thousand rooms. There are numerous restaurants within, as well as shops, bars, a theater, and even a spa. It would be utterly impossible to run out of things to do here, especially with Natalie Cole performing here in December, all the way through to the new year.
Tickets will be priced at $35 to $100 on the day of performance, and and also on January first, with the ticket prices at $25-75. If you’re looking for a great time, this is definitely the place to be. Make sure you order your tickets now! The end of the year is upon us. Where will you be when the calender turns over and 2010 rolls around? We hope you’ll be at the Tropicana Casino and Resort listening to the astounding music of Natalie Cole.

Cheers To Boyz II Men Show That Happened in Atlantic City This December

Atlantic City got a special treat on December 5, 2009! The legendary multiple Grammywinning, Boyz II Men performed at the Resorts, Superstar Theater..
When it comes to music super groups, Boyz II Men is the leader of the pack. The band still holds the record as the best selling R&B male vocal group of all time with over 60 million albums sold. According to Billboard Magazine, Boyz II Men is also the most successful music group of the 1990s. Not surprising when you consider that the group released their first album in 1991 and the hits just kept on rolling out!
Before becoming a music phenomenon, Boyz II Men originally got their start in the 1980s in their native Philadelphia Pennsylvania. At the Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts, band members Wanya Morris, Shawn Stockman, Nathan Morris and Michael McCary put together a group. The group was signed to the legendary Motown Records, a nice fit considering the groups vocal harmonies and powerhouse singing was reminiscent of the legendary Motown acts of the 60s and 70s.
In 1991, Boyz II Men began to insert their influence on the music industry with the release of their debut album, Cooleyhighharmony. The album was heavily inspired by the New jack swing style in vogue at the time. The first single “Motownphilly” featuring uptempo dance beats was an instant hit. The follow up single, “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday” was performed A capella and became a classic. Both singles would reach the top of the R&B charts and the top 5 on the pop charts. The album would end up selling 9 million copies and winning the group their first Grammy for Best R&B group.
Between their first and second albums, the group would release the single “End of the Road” for the 1992 film, Boomerang starring Eddie Murphy. The ballad produced by Babyface would go on to be not only one of the groups most successful songs but one of the biggest singles ever recorded. The single would sit at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts for a record setting 13 weeks.
Their 1994, follow up album, simply titled II, would debut at number 1 before going on to sell an astonishing 12 million albums domestically. The first single off the album, the ballad, “I’ll Make Love to You” would go on to set another record, by spending 14 weeks at the top of the charts. Other soul stirring romantic ballads “On Bended Knee” and “Water Runs Dry” would also become successful classics, often performed by the group in concert. II would go on to win a Grammy as Best R&B album and gave the group a second win as Best R&B group.
Other successful singles by the group include the 1995 “One Sweet Day” a duet with Mariah Carey which would set another record by sending 16 weeks on the top of the charts. 1997s, “A Song for Mama,” a beautiful dedication to mothers from the successful Soul Food film would also go platinum. Group member McCary would leave the group due to poor health in 2003, but is expected to return in the New Year.
Boyz II Men will celebrate 20 years in music in 2010. Now is your chance to experience the smooth harmonies that has made the group so famous! The group just released its newest album Love in late November. Don’t miss out to experience their timeless classics from the 90s as well as their latest music.

Lionel Richie Was At His Best at the Circus Maximus!

On December 4, living music legend, Lionel Richie performed at the Caesars, Circus Maximus in Atlantic City. Though some might know Lionel Richie for being the father of TV personality Nicole Richie, the singer has been active and influential in the music industry for over 40 years. Lionel has sold a massive 100 million albums all around the world.
Born in Tuskegee, Alabama, Lionel Richie graduated from the historically black Tuskegee University. Attending Tuskegee would also be instrumental in Lionel getting his start in music. In 1967, Lionel along with several other freshmen at the Tuskegee University would form The Commodores. The group would go on to become a popular Motown soul and funk group, with Lionel performing as the lead singer and saxophonist. Richie was also responsible for writing some of the groups most popular tones, mainly romantic ballads. Richie wrote “Easy” in 1977, giving the group crossover success thanks to the tracks country and western roots. “Three Times a Lady” released in 1978 and “Still” released the following year further showcased the writing skills and unique vocal style of Richie.
With his group success, Richie began writing songs for other musical talent including the number 1 smash hit “Lady” for Kenny Rogers in 1980. Richie’s biggest song during the era would be “Endless Love” a duet that paired up Richie with another Motown legend, the incomparable Diana Ross. The massive hit released in 1981 topped the charts for 9 weeks and was nominated for an Academy Award for its inclusion in the film of the same name starring Brooke Shields. The singles success helped Richie launch his solo career, releasing his debut album, Lionel Richie in 1982. The album featured three top 5 singles including the number one hit, “Truly” an easy listening ballad.
Richie’s second album, Cant Slow Down, would sell over 20 million copies around the world and win a Grammy award for Album of the Year. The fun Caribbean inspired dance track, “All Night Long” was released as the first single, becoming a number 1 hit. His third single “Hello” a soft ballad about unrequited love is the tune Richie is probably most known for. Richie often performs both songs during concert performances.
For his third studio album, Dancing on the Ceiling, Richie would score big. “Say You, Say Me” would be featured as part of the soundtrack from the White Knights film of 1985 and would win a Golden Globe and Oscar. Richie continued to release new albums through out the 1990s and into the millennium, mainly composed of Contemporary R&B tracks. Though now 60, Richie has not slowed down. Richie’s latest album, Just Go was released in May of 2009. New collaborations with hot hip hop artist such as Akon show the diversity of Richie and the respect and admiration that current artist have for the musical genius.
Though other artist has covered many of Richie’s songs, the original is still the best!

Who Gets The Boo on World Middleweight Boxing Championship at The Boardwalk Hall?

Professional boxing has been all the rage of Pay Per View as of late but it has been a staple oflive events in Atlantic City for many decades. A great number of famous and well remembered fights have occurred in Atlantic City over the years and this December 5, a tremendous middleweight bout will be taking place that is sure to be remembered for many years to come as well. The bout involves a meeting between World Middleweight Champion Kelly “The Ghost” Pavlik vs, Paul “The Punisher” Williams.

Without a doubt, this will be one of the all-time toughest bouts of Pavlik’s career as he will be facing an extremely tough challenger. Williams is no stranger to championship victories and can point to a number of impressive wins over his career as evidence of his ability to walk away with the gold belt. Will Pavlik be able to retain his middleweight crown? You really cannot count Pavlik out as he is an enormously impressive champion. But, as previously mentioned, Williams will be a tough challenger to turn back.

Pavlik has had some troubles in recent years that had many worried about his future in the sport. A dangerous staph infection in his right hand was something that had people fearing would lead to him relinquishing his crown. Mercifully, this turned out not to be the case and he has certainly made the best of a bad situation and is continuing his impressive fight record. He is, after all, a champion and has the fighting spirit of a talented pro.

Williams’ recent fights have been incredibly impressive as well and he has held World titles as well. His previous fight was one sided with him completely dominating an opponent. A challenger that is not known for showing weakness while maintaining domination over and opponent surely can strike fear into a champion. While it is doubtful that someone of the caliber of Pavlik will show fear, it is likely he will bring his absolute A Game to the area that night in order to turn back what will surely be a stiff challenge. These are the things that great fights are made of.

Caesar’s at Boardwalk Hall will be hosting the fight. This is an excellent venue for the bout since it is very easy to get a clear look at the combatants from any seat in the house. That is not to say that seats will still be available if you do not quickly rush out and make a purchase as these seats are going fast. So, if you are a fight fan looking into seeing one of the top fights of the year, this is an event you will want to jot down on the calendar.
