Kenny’s “Christmas and Hits” Tour

kenny-rogers

Country music lovers of Atlantic City eagerly await the arrival of the 70-year-old legend Kenny Rogers who

is going to be performing at the Trump Taj Mahal – Mark G. Etess Arena on December 12 and 13. Having sold over 100 million records and with three Grammy Awards to his credit in a career span of four decades, Kenny Rogers isn’t ready to retire just yet. Having shows booked well up to June 2009 proves the fact.

His tour flagged off at Victoria, British Columbia on the 16th of November. It’s the veteran performer’s 27th Christmas trek. While the performances will be packed with songs of the season, Rogers will also treat concert goers to the fan-favorites like “The Gambler,” and “Lady”. Here’s your chance to watch his performance as there are still some tickets available.

Atlantic City Holidaying Amid the Recession

The Economic crisis this year seems to have hit hard. And with the predictions of it not ending anytime

Recession Atlantic City

soon, it sure has acerbated this holiday season. Going to a favorite holiday destination might not be on the list for many this holiday season amid rising unemployment. But the people are still ready to take the bull by horns with shows booked all over the city. Surprised?

Don’t get me wrong, we aren’t breaking any records here, but tickets sales are certainly higher than what most people expected this time of the year when even Mr. Donald Trump is worried. People have found  uncompromising ways of dealing with the recession. I have friends that say they are mingling locally instead of driving to neighboring states. A few others canceled their big spending trips to Vegas and decided to go watch the fireworks locally instead. Locals are keeping business alive more so than ever in Atlantic City and ticket sales perhaps reflect that sentiment.

News has also come in to us that some casinos in Las Vegas had a little bit of a change of fortune in the month of November. One of the casinos reportedly beat their revenues from November 2007, something we haven’t heard of from the casino industry for a while. While we don’t think that this is happening in Atlantic City yet, our hopes are high for 2009!

Markets are flooded with books that claim to help you to “deal with recession”. Although it wouldn’t be a bad suggestion to save your dime on those. Admittedly, keeping the holiday spirits high might be difficult through a recession, but not impossible. People have eventually come to believe that a perfect holiday is not about going on a spending spree. It’s all about enriching yourself with good memories. That’s what gets us through periods such as this one.

GooGoo Dolls All Set To Usher 2009 at Atlantic City

Goo Goo Dolls

It’s confirmed – The Goo Goo Dolls will end their 2008 musical tour on the New Year’s eve at House of Blues at The Showboat Atlantic City.

The tour which kicked off in July at Cadott, WI, is being hyped about for all the right reasons. The band which has huge hits such as “Name,” “Iris” and “Slide” is all set to hit the stage and take it till the countdown begins that night.

The Goo Goo Dolls have announced recording sessions for a new album, on their official website, unrelated to their Volume Two in 2008. After a successful tour so far, the band is on a roll. Looking at the sale of tickets, their performance is indeed the main attraction for the New Year’s eve at Atlantic City.

Atlantic City Same Old Nonsense with Great Rates

I love AC. From the beaches to the boardwalk to the casinos and night life. The history is rich and the politics even richer. This glamor city on ocean is a mecca in the dumps. Last time we were there Labor Day some of my familiar sites were missing. We know the Sands has be turned in dust and rubble and sands. BTW they still show up in a google map search. The Pinnacle knocked it down to build their mega resort, put 100′s of people out of jobs and now its another empty eyesore. No end in sight when this fiasco will be settled. Another one of my favorite sites is also gone. What happened to the Peter Max mural? They just tore it down with nothing to replace it except an ugly wall. I will go on and on, but for now you should know the hotel rates are awesome. So go enjoy because AC still has what to offer.
